Patron's Welcome

Bruce DaweAs Patron of the Speech and Drama Teachers' Association of Queensland Inc., welcome.

In this digital age, any medium that aims to enhance meaningful communication between human beings is to be valued. A considerable amount of professional development is now conducted on-line and, increasingly, teachers and students are finding the internet to be a valuable resource in complementing print texts and traditional media.

By establishing and maintaining this website, the Association is demonstrating a willingness to embrace technology in support of the face-to-face interaction that is so important in Communication, Speech and Drama activities as diverse as public speaking, reading or reciting poetry, and theatrical performance.

I commend this website and other services provided to SDTAQ Inc. members. In so doing, I applaud the Association’s vision and the enterprise of the Management Committee.

President's Welcome

As the current President of the Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland Inc., it is a pleasure to welcome you to our website.

The SDTAQ Inc. prides itself on being the largest subject association for teachers of Speech and Drama in Australia. We have 340 members from a range of backgrounds (metropolitan, regional and rural) and from a gamut of teaching experience (exclusively private studio or classroom practitioners or a mix of both). Many of our members teach one-to-one but students are also taught in small and large groups too. We see the diversity of our membership’s interests and practices as one of the Association's strengths.

The website aims to serve several purposes, namely to provide:

Like the Association itself, the website's value is reliant on its usefulness to SDTAQ Inc. members and the wider community. We ask that you provide feedback to the Association about what is most helpful or what might be improved. Our paramount aim is to provide an opportunity for Speech and Drama teachers – regardless of location or teaching focus – to interact more effectively.

I wish readers well as the site is explored. I trust its information and resources will serve to enhance your teaching and your students' learning.
